Need assistance with end gcode
So, i have a problem where some of the PLA filament that i use isn't of the best quality and if it sits idle in my extruder for more than a few minutes, it often snaps, leaving me with the task of extracting the broken pieces. To mitigate that problem, I've simply added the needed length of retraction to my end gcode, but this retracts the filament at printing temperature and thus leaves strings. I need the nozzle temperature to be a little lower before retraction.
I'm looking for gcode that will lower the nozzle temperature to a specific value before retracting and shutting down other parts of the printer. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Smart effector fan design
@jay_s_uk
Thanks!
That design would cut down on my printable area, the fans would touch the belts.
My search continues! -
RE: Smart effector fan design
Do you have any pictures of this design assembled?

RE: Anycubic Ultrabase
@red-sand-robot
I have an ultrabase and what has worked for me when printing petg, is cleaning the bed with alcohol, baby stepping the starting height down a bit (-0.05) to get a better stick and printing with a brim for more surface grip. Also, once you do get a good first layer, you have to be careful with part cooling. Even a little change in bed temp will cause the part to let go.
Oh, and be careful not to scrape the bed with the nozzle, the ultrabase coating will clog it up pretty good. -
Order smart effector without heat sink?
Is it possible to order the smart effector without the threaded heat sink?
I purchased a threaded heat sink separately a couple months ago directly from E3D to try out some new effector designs but its time to step up to the smart effector. I don't foresee the need for a spare heat sink so I would like to save some .

RE: Beginner Needs Help - Anycubic Kossel Plus + Duet WiFi -- HOW?
Consider calibrating the printer without using the probe just to get you up and running, It only takes five minutes. It will eliminate any probe inconsistencies and you can always come back to the probe later to tweak that last bit of accuracy.

Great! When you do find a nice config that works well, feel free to share.

Awesome instructions so far.
Oh, how are you finding the rods, acceptable? -

Are you sure that the offset for the probe is in the +Y direction only? Looking at your pictures compared to how my effector is installed (as by the anycubic manual) the probe may need offsetting on both axis. Can you post a picture of your effector from the front (between x and y motors) of the machine so we can see it relative to the bed?
I also noticed that the config-override.g file you posted has no updated parameters in it. When you do get the probe measuring all areas of the bed properly and you do an M500 to save the settings, double check that the override file has been updated.
Oh, and since you've been having lots of crashes when attempting to print, before you start printing anything next time, manually lower the nozzle to different points on the bed to make sure that "zero" isn't above or below the bed.

Hows your build coming along?

RE: Duet & new and stock Anycubic Kossel Linear Plus - config files?
@tcj
I have a working config file for the AKL+ but you'll still need to do an auto calibration to get the particulars for your build. When i get home tonight i'll upload it.Oops, i just realized that mine isn't completely stock anymore, i have an e3d v6 on it and a different effector. If you'd still like to try, here it is.
0_1531006429583_config.g
You'll need to edit it a bit before you use it, specifically the network settings. After that, your z probe offset if you use the one supplied, will need to be set. Oh, and remove the ; from the M501 command under "Calibration" so that the config override can be used while you calibrate. Oh, and make sure you do a PID auto calibrate to get some values for your hotend heater before you start printing. -
RE: Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
@heapstar
Does your printer have a long bowden tube? If so, would you be able to share your accel and jerk settings? -
RE: Beginner Needs Help - Anycubic Kossel Plus + Duet WiFi -- HOW?
@mindbender9
I see your M558 H parameter is still set to 5. Change it to 30mm as suggested by dc42 a few weeks back. I crashed my probe into the bed a few times over before i found that post. I believe that H parameter sets the height the probe moves to before actually doing any probing. If 5mm takes the probe below the bed before probing starts, it will crash every time.
Have you tried doing a manual calibration without a probe again, just to eliminate any fussiness with probes for now? I gave up using my probe as it wasn't consistent enough, probably a result of the frequent bed crashes. Manual calibration was quick, easy and accurate enough. -
RE: Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
So, I've really tried to get pressure advance to benefit my print quality, but so far, no setting from 0.01 to 0.5 will produce anything different for me. I've even tried lowering extrusion and temperature, but each print looks the same as without pressure advance. All i get when i go as high as 0.5 is a creaky extruder. Maybe its this filament, maybe its this extruder (knockoff titan) . I've printed over 20 test pieces so far and its getting frustrating having zero results (good or bad). I'm gonna leave it at 0.1 for now and move on to other things. Thanks for the help!

@phaedrux
That simple eh? I'll give it a go, thanks again. -
RE: Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
@phaedrux
Yeah, the wiki says S0.2 for a long bowden tube, I'm up to S0.5. I know its doing something, i can hear my extruder working overtime with retractions during top and bottom layers and various other areas where it would normally just continue smoothly but i notice no difference in quality, corners still bulge. I need a good but simple model that this can be demonstrated on. Any suggestions?
Thanks -
RE: Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
@phaedrux
Thanks!
I'm up to S0.5 now and have yet to see any difference at all. From what i've read around the forum, a setting that high should do something to the print right? Maybe it is my filament, this stuff i have is pretty stringy, i use 6mm of retraction on a 550mm bowden tube to combat stringiness. -
RE: Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
@deckingman
Thanks, i'll give that a try again.
I was looking to reduce the "Z scar" on prints, that bulge where the nozzle stops. I've been using a 20mm cube with a half circle on one side to help spot any changes, good or bad, but haven't seen anything, the bulge is still there. Can you recommend any shapes or models that i can print that will easily show a difference?

Where\how to enable Pressure Advance?
Sorry for starting a new topic for something that's surely trivial, but i searched the wiki along with many posts and couldn't find any explicit info on where the M572 D0 S0.1 command should be put. I tried it in my starting gcode and also in my config.g but every test print i run with varying degrees of pressure advance, from 0.05 to 0.3, all look identical.
Where do i put the command?
Thanks
