ok, thus it is not without risk then.
maybe I wil do the testing of the motion system without the duex connected.
when i am convinced that 24V is an improvement for me, then I wil just have to buy the heaters cartridges.
i did not know about the fans and the onboard regulator.

just a quick question.
I have a coreXY printer with 3 Z motors and 4 printheads.
all the movement motors are connected to a duet-ethernet board and the extruders are connected via a duex5.
I want ge increase the speed of the axis and i want to see if changing the powersupply to 24V makes adifference.
all the printheader are 12V.

can I connect the Duex board to a different voltage as the mainboard?
so I would connect the duex ( and thus the extruders and fans ) to 12V
an the duet to 24V.
in time i wille probably replace the heater cartridges and fans but because this is only a test, i want to avoid doing a maybe useless expence.

i appologise if this is a question already answered in forum but I could not find an answer.

To be honest, I don’t actually know anymore. Ik think it was 2018 or 2017. And I guess it came from either 123-3D or from the duet3d webshop. Why ?

I did some measuring and it seems there is a resistance of 12ohm between 3,3v and ground.
that is enough to pull the 3,3V line to low and perhaps also the 5V line.
the problem is that for as far as i can see the CPU is not the only component on 3,3V. the stepper drivers are also on 3,3V so it can also be any of those as well. they are however not heating up.
by now i have also found out that the CPU is not on stock on any of my usual web shops. delivery dat is mid 2023 at best.

when connected to USB, the computer detect something but does not know what it is ( maybe because i erased the firmware )
it is listed as unknown device. i reinstalled the duet device driver but this made no difference

in real life, TR4 still looks good.

I tried to take a couple of pictures.
All I can see is that coil/inductor L2 is broken because it haze a hole in the center but none of the other components
Show signs of damage. the Ethernet module is also pretty fried but for this I have a replacement.
Is noticed that the cpu gets hot when doing nothing ( I erased the firmware and disconnected everything but USB ) and component u2 ( I think a voltage regulator ) is also pretty warm but not as hot as the cpu.
Maybe, if the cpu is fried it overloads it is voltage source. I measured the 5 and 3.3 voltage rails and they are on the low side. I measure 3.15v and 4.25v

I have duet ethernet and a duex5 on my printer.
I don't understand why or how but, during a print job, i heard the the noise of death coming from the little ethernet controller board.
the CPU felt verry hot and the ethernet controller IC had a small hole in it.
I don't know what to do now.
i have the knowledge and experience the main CPU but i don't know if there is a special bootloader installed or not.
what if I buy an new duet ethernet board, can i safely hook it up to my duex 5 board?
is there a way to test if the duex5 is still good/safe?
i think what happened is one of the motor wires somehow made connection to the 5V line of a sensor input.
does anyone have experience that can help me?

Hi guys,

i have been using a duet wifi for years now and the wifi reception haze always been on the edge of beeing good enough.
i rencently made my printer more rigid with a couple of aluminum plates and this haze a bad affect on the wifi reception.
i have seen there are duets who have a wifi module on which you can connect an external wifi antenna ( mine does not have this connection ) or with a RJ45 ethernet port.
i was wondring, i am very skilled in soldering/reworking very small SMD components ( its my day job ). can I replace the wifi module with a model that haze an external antenna or the RJ45 type? or is the pcb layout different?if possible, i would prefer the RJ45 connection.
