Hi
I want to install a cam solution on my DuetWifi/Duex for the purpose of troubleshooting prints.
Will anyone recommend a solution? Or have experience? The printer is a corexy 60x80x80cm.

Hurray. I finally found out that the problem was the gray fat ribbon cable between the Duet and the Duex. God knows why. It could be that the grounding is the problem then.
Thanks a lot for all the replies
@dc42 said in Compensating technics for long ribbon driven axes:
@hsverre resonance compensation is available in RRF 3.4.40, it's called input shaping. There's a summary at https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Tuning/Input_shaping.
Thanks for your reply.
I know about the input shaping but thats for resonance. I guess the input shaping does not compensate for the lack of rigidity in ribbon belts?
I see that the the tolerance is acceptable when the print head is in the center of the printer. I guess its because there is aqual amounts of belts retracted from the stepper motor and the lack of rigidity is equal on each side of the print head.
But as soon as the print head is at the most extreme side there is a long ribbon retracted on one side (x-) and very short on the other side (x+). And therefore there is to little precision.
The Voron 2.4 fex does not recommend to have builds exceeding 35 cm xyz beacyse of belts limitations.
I was thinking about this also to make bigger 3d printers more accessiple to people who does not have access to costly big industrial precision printers.
Hi
I have built a 3d printer with 80x60 cm buildplate z is about 80 cm. I did this only for test purpose, i had very low expectations of a printer this size and ribbon driven.
The ribbons have limits when beeing this long but i wonder if it is possible to make programmable tunings to compensate for mechanicle limitations.
A ribbon driven printer is by far the easiest compared to big heavy lead screws. It think it would have been a really great idea to have electroniccly compensation for ribbon cables, aka ressonance compensation/accelerometer. Is there possible other methods to compensate?
Anyone have thought about this? This printer has a Duet Wifi and Duex 5

Where did everyone go? Did i say something wrong? What happened?
@dc42 said in Duex PWN pins gives 2.5 V and not 5 V:
@hsverre yes you can power a BLTouch from the 5V_AUX pin on the DueX.
If you have a multimeter then you could trace the path of the 5V rail. There should be 5V on pin 1 of the expansion connector on the Duet, then 5V on pin 1 of the expansion connector on the DueX, then 5V on the 5V_AUX jumper of the DueX. Take care not to short 5V to ground when measuring it.
I used a multimeter (without shortcutting ) to measure. The 5V on pin 1 on the expanasjon connector at the Duet reports 5V, the pin 1 on the expansion connector on the Duex reports 2.5-ish V (BTW the 3.3 V pin reports 3.3 V) and the 5V_AUX reports 2.5-ish V.
@droftarts said in Duex PWN pins gives 2.5 V and not 5 V:
@hsverre You have another thread going with the same issue: https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/27279/bltouch-not-working/24
Please don't start a second thread. You'll just be asked the same questions all over again.
And yes, 5V AUX should supply 5V. Follow the troubleshooting @dc42 suggested to trace the 5V rail.Ian
Yes the other thread is about the BLTouch, this one is about the PWM and how it works.
Im sorry if I did a mistake. Can i take any actions to make it ok again?
Of course the tracing seems like a proper next step. Ill be back
@droftarts said in Duex PWN pins gives 2.5 V and not 5 V:
@hsverre What are you trying to connect, and to where? You have a BLTouch connected to PWM1.
The PWM pin is to control the BLTouch deployment, not supply 5V to it.Ian
Yes I have a BLTouch at PWM1 and it does not work. Not action what so ever. And it works fine on another printer.
So this pins are not supposed to give 5V? Between GND and 5V AUX as the duex schematics show?
If so i guess the BLTouch get power from the Probe pins on the Duet Wifi then?
@droftarts said in Duex PWN pins gives 2.5 V and not 5 V:
@hsverre also note you canβt use the same heater and PWM pin on the DueX; heater E2 is shared PWM1, heater E3 is shared with PWM2, etc.
Ian
I use non of the Duex heaters.

@hsverre Please post your config.g and firmware version.

@dc42
I guess there is a stepdownconverter somewhere. Might be a idea to measure it.
It is in the correct position between 5V INT and 5V AUX and it gives 2.5 V. When I reomve the jumper it gives 0 V. I guess there has to be a hardware fault somewhere.
I have a Duet Wifi and a Duex5 connected. Im trying to use one of the PWN1-5 connectors. The connector only gives 2.5 V and not the 5 V it should. I dont understand why? Can i use another 5 V pin to get 5 V power? What component on the Duex adapts the 5 V. I gues I have to measure it.
@diy-o-sphere said in BLTouch not working:
You cannot measure this exactly with a voltmeter. But it could be plausible for an end position. It's been a few years since I've measured that too.....I would give it a try.
The BLTouch still dont work with the 2.6 v. In my opinion the problem is that the PWM gives 2.6 V and not 5 V. The schematics says 5 V and then I should measure 5 V at that pin.
@diy-o-sphere said in BLTouch not working:
@hsverre
Set the jumper that way.
Now i have set the jumper that way and 2.6 V (half of 5?) at thw PWM
@diy-o-sphere said in BLTouch not working:
@hsverre
Only with big 5v fans....
I dont have any 5 V fan
BTW Do I need an external powersupply for the Duex other than the 12 V?
@diy-o-sphere
I have played a bit back and forth with that pin. When in the position the schem show the PWM pins gives 2.658 V
No one of the PWM ports gives 5 V, all of them show 0 V.
And both the BLTOuches works fine on another printer. So they are ok.
There has to be something wrong with the power on the PWM pins
