My ratrig stronghold pro frame arrived today

THX, I'll build this instead of the old wired version

I think I have a dead 1HCL board.

"Driver 51.0 error: phase A short to Vin" while the motor violently limps along

All my wiring checks out and works fine if I use another 1HCL in its place.
I am not seeing any obvious damage to the board that could cause this.

Are there any more steps I could take to get it working/find out what caused this?

Inspired by DrDFlo's huge 3D printer, I intend to build a cnc with nema 23's and 1HCL boards.

Before I press the buy button, I would like to double check:
omc nema-23 <= these have the correct encoder right?
