Longer cables for 23CL motors
-
Hi, I'm building a CNC based on a RatRig Stronghold Pro 1500x1500mm kit and I'm planning to use a 6HC as the main controller with a 3HC and a tool distribution board to connect to 23CL motors over CAN bus.
RIght now I have two 48V, 320W power supplies to drive X, Y1, Y2, and Z, which I'm planning to run directly to the motors. And then planning to run the CAN bus signals through the 3HC and distribution board.
I need longer cables than were supplied with the motors (about 4-5 meters), and all the cables I can find are 24AWG rated at 4A. The motors are rated at 2.8A/phase, so I'm concerned that won't be enough especially over a longer distance.
Will a 4A / 5 meter cable be sufficient, or do I need to find or make a beefier one? If so any suggestions on where to find a premade cable or suitable M8 connectors in the US?
Many thanks.

@iso42 both phases won't be fully on at the same time, at most, the maximum will be the equivalent of 1 phase of power so 4A over 5m would be fine

@jay_s_uk OK, that's what I was hoping. Thanks!
