Automatic calibration

I fond this article and would really appreicate if suche a feature would be implemented to improve print quality and stay cometitive withs B....

@Mike-1 I've only read the abstract and glanced through the rest, but it seems the article is about using an "instrumented extruder" fitted with a filament monitor and load cell to measure hot end pressure. As Duet don't make extruders, I'm not sure of the relevance of asking for the technique to be added to the firmware wish list.

@deckingman That's right. Some special hardware ist needed. Maybee you can gain some information from the motor currents or a more clever filament sensor would be an option. I just love open source and hope it will stay for a long time.

After scanning the article ...
I think its a bit premature (at this stage of the research) given (emphasis is mine):
Once our method calculates flow rates in mm/s for these four speed categories, it outputs equivalent linear feed rates in mm/s for a selected track width and layer height. We then manually input these selections into the slicer in order to generate GCode and print the test artifacts. This obvious shortcoming of the method is a primary focus of our future work, as we discuss in section “Integrating with Motion Control and Slicing.”
This is not a dynamically generated set of parameters. More-or-less, once you have the parameters, its unlikely that you would need to change them often.
The same basic parameters can be gleaned with a small number of "calibration" prints. So while the possibilities are interesting, its unclear if there would be a compelling cost benefit (for the average user). Perhaps this might appeal to the batch oriented commercial user (print a test object - adjust parameters - print a batch).
Now what would be elegant (cost aside) is a closed loop system with feed-forward during print time

@stuartofmt Maybee that would be an option. Use the information from the filament sensor and pressure to calculate the real flow in time.

Bambu Lab may also use a similar algorithm to achieve flow calibration.
