Fan control glitches M106 – DWC issues

I'm trying to work around S3D fan control issues – however I notice that I can't control the fans for the tools given the commands specified
M106 Px S255 --> tool fan on for a specific tool where 0-3 in my case
I also notice DWC fan 1-3 control -- fan3 controls fan 2 so does fan2, so there is no ability to toggle the fan of a tool without switching to that tool, which I rather not have to do
I presently have the tools defined as F0:2:4:6 so that M106 turns the fans on for all tools, but that's a hack.If M106 Px Sx worked, then I could work something out with S3D to fix fan control.
