Refining set up with DWC

For some reason I thought I could update code using the DWC.? Put on a new part cooling fan shroud and need to revise my Z offset. Can I send g31 via DWC?
I made the attempt and the console gave me a check mark, but when I ran M503 it still showed the old setting.

@Yar m503 reads config.g not what currently stored in flash. Run G31 to find the current value. You will have to edit config.g to save the value
