Multi material prints and SuperSlicer
-
If you are using SuperSlicer and print multi material prints with multiple extruders, do you use an ooze shield? How many loops do you use on the skirt (which is also the number of loops in the ooze shield). Do you do anything else to achieve clean multi extruder prints?
Is there any reason why SuperSlicer doesn't default to the number of loops in the skirt to be at least the number of colours you print? If I print with two colours but only set up for a single skirt loop then the skirt/ooze shield alternates between each of the two extruders which means that every second layer doesn't get primed before the nozzle starts printing on the actual object. If my print is three colours but I only have a two loop skirt then again there will be one colour that will not be properly primed although I haven't actually tried this yet. Is this a bug or do the powers-to-be assume that the users are smart enough to set up with enough skirt loops?
Are there situations when an ooze shield is not necessary and SuperSlicer allows fewer skirt loops knowing that not every extruder needs priming in the middle of the print?
