Premade Cable Ends
-
Hello Everyone,
I'm having a hard time getting a consistent connection out of the Smart Effector. I seem to get about half of my bed to probe before one of the connectors wiggles loose, causing the effector to crash into the bed until the belt skips. Usually this happens a few times, and then the 6-blink pattern shows up once on the LED.
I'm pretty sure this means that my 8-pin molex connector isn't in good contact. The white LEDs stay on consistently, and I don't seem to have other issues with power, so I think the 6-pin one is fine.
Has anyone got a source for pre-made 8-pin molex connectors with a decent length pigtail? I've seen the ones posted for the 6-pin, but not the 8-pin molex kk. I could probably get it working with a bit more rework, but would rather just buy a premade wire at this point.
I've seen these, but the pigtail is pretty short. https://www.pcboard.ca/kf2510-prewired-connector
I think the source of the issue might be that I'm using solid core Cat 6 cable, which is a bit stiff, and seems to exert some torque on the connector.
I'm in Canada, if anyone knows a source around here.

@moowcowsia
RS components has all manner of pre crimped cables of various lengths.
This link wil be Australia but you'd be able to find a local site

@moowcowsia don't use solid core cable with all the movement the cores will work harden and fracture and that is probably what is causing your issue. You can get stranded cat5/6 cables usually as a patch cable rather than on a drum but should be easy to find and then to crimp as normal.
Any computer store should have them and if it is soft and flexible then it will be stranded but if stiffer then its will be solid.

As with most issues that take a while to fix, it was a combination problem. The solid core cable was part of the issue. The other part was that the sensitivity on the smart effector was too low. I set it up to 225.
