Plugin support/api for the ip camera for time-lapses

I'd like the option to create time-lapses using my ip webcam and instead of having a separate app/hardware to manually start it, it would be nice having something that communicates with the duet. Is there any existing support for it out there? If not I was thinking i would try implement a simple version on my own by taking a picture every layer change. Is there any api etc to look at?
