Duet 3 6HC Ethernet Port
-
Is there suppose to be any lights lit up on the ethernet port when an ethernet is plugged in? I see two lights near the bottom of the ethernet port on the board (green and yellow it looks like). When I plug in a cable, these do not turn on. Is this normal?
-
@frank-0, no, the lights show ethernet connectivity and will flicker in normal operation.
-
@jens55 So something is wrong with my duet?
-
@frank-0 ... or with your ethernet cable or with whatever is on the other end of the cable or your config file or .....
I had the same issue at one point. Turned out that I didn't have things set up correctly in the config file. Oh, it also takes a few seconds (in my case) for my switch to recognize the new port before things would start flashing.

These are the essentials for MY config file:
; Networking
M550 P"printer name" ; Name used in ui and for mDNS http://Jubilee.local
M552 P0.0.0.0 S1 ; Use Ethernet with a static IP, 0.0.0.0 for dhcp
;M553 P255.255.255.0 ; Netmask
;M554 192.168.1.1 ; GatewayNote that the last two lines are commented out for my application.

@jens55 Is it possible for you to see what is wrong with my config.g file?

@frank-0 I see the essential M552, I do not know about the password M551 call as I don't use a password to connect to the network.
I am afraid I am the limits of my knowledge here. I would go and see if the 6HC shows up in the router IP listings and go from there. There are really endless possibilities starting with a defective network cable. Have you hooked the cable to another device and checked for traffic?
