struggling with heaters in RR3
-
Hi,
I am struggling with heaters in RR3. I have tried working through the examples converting M305 and M307 and also used the config generator but cant seem to make them work. both heaters show 2000c in DWC so not working.
could someone please advise where I am going wrong?
M143 H0 S120 ; Set temperature limit for heater 0 to 120C M305 P0 T100000 B4138 C0 R4700 ; Set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 0 M307 H0 A198.2 C1000.5 D0.7 B0 M143 H1 S350 ; Set temperature limit for heater 1 to 350C M305 P1 T100000 B4138 C0 R4700 ; Set thermistor + ADC parameters for heater 1 M307 H1 A525.9 C290.3 D4.2 B0
so the above works in RR3 but needs converting
M308 S0 P"bedtemp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4092 ; configure sensor 0 as thermistor on pin bedtemp M950 H0 C"bedheat" T0 ; create bed heater output on bedheat and map it to sensor 0 M307 H0 B0 S1.00 ; disable bang-bang mode for the bed heater and set PWM limit M140 H0 ; map heated bed to heater 0 M143 H0 S150 ; set temperature limit for heater 0 to 150C M308 S1 P"e0temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4092 ; configure sensor 1 as thermistor on pin e0temp M950 H1 C"e0heat" T1 ; create nozzle heater output on e0heat and map it to sensor 1 M307 H1 B0 S1.00 ; disable bang-bang mode for heater and set PWM limit M143 H1 S275 ; set temperature limit for heater 1 to 275C
this is what I came up with from the config generator - tried changing the B4092 to B4138 but no joy.
what am I doing wrong?

@opentoideas the above certainly looks reasonable for RRF3.
so the above works in RR3 but needs converting
this statement concerns me as the original lines are not supported. Are you sure you've upgraded correctly? post the output of M115

@jay_s_uk oh dear looks like its not going as well as I thought
my intention was to go to RR2 but when DWC updated to 3.3 I figured I went wrong but looks like it didnt as M115 gives :
FIRMWARE_NAME: RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet FIRMWARE_VERSION: 2.02(RTOS) ELECTRONICS: Duet WiFi 1.02 or later FIRMWARE_DATE: 2018-12-24b1
so it looks like the first thing is to correctly update it to V3

@opentoideas you need to jump through some firmware versions to get to 3.3 as you can get there straight from 2.02
Upload these 3 zip files, one at a time in the system tab. Don't extract them. Reboot after each. Use M115 to verify the firmware has been applied.
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/2.05.1/Duet2Firmware-2.05.1.zip
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/3.0/Duet2and3Firmware-3.0.zip
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/3.3/Duet2and3Firmware-3.3.zip
That will get your firmware and DWC up to date. You can see the change logs here:
https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/wiki/Changelog-RRF-3.xFor your config, might be a good idea to run through the configurator tool and generate a fresh set for RRF3.
https://configtool.reprapfirmware.org/StartBackup your existing config files in the sys folder in case you want to switch back to RRF3. IT’s easy to switch back and forth, just upload the zip file for the version you want and then upload your config files.

will update correctly and fingers crossed

update to 3.0 went fine and heaters showed up fine. update to 3.3 seems to be taking a long time on the prompt
"please wait while updates are installed"will give it a short while then refesh the webpage - had to reboot but 3.3 loaded successfully
unfortunately caught myself out on X where direction was reversed - note to self update the comments to reflect changes!
Z probe not working so thats my next bit to research - all sorted and calibration awaits - thanks again
