Sticking magnetic surface to Borosilicate glass?
-
I have a D-Bot corexy printer with a 6mm cast aluminium bed. I have a magnetic sheet attached to the bed surface and I use a spring steel sheet with PEI surface.
I have a 300x300mm sheet of borosilicate glass that I used to use with clips and also a spare 300x300mm self-adhesive magnetic sheet.
Would it be sensible to stick the magnetic sheet to the glass and use it on top of the magnetic sheet attached to the ali bed. Has anyone ever tried this? My worry is that the sheet may stop the glass's normal expansion/contraction under heating and cause it to crack or shatter.
Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome, especially any other solutions to attaching glass magnetically to an ali bed.

Hi,
I think the two magnetic foils will repel each other, because they have the same polarity. -
You could be right. I just tried putting one on top of the other and it slides very easily. Probably a non-starter. Ideally some kind of thin metal film would be ideal but I don't know of anything suitable.

If did stick, the glass would be hard to remove since it won't be flexible. You would have the full surface area of the magnets to separate.

I use some thermal pads under the glass when I need it. It sticks well to the magnetic surface.
