An Existing Patent for Kinematics
-
In the heated print chamber patent, I found out that they seemed to also design a kinematic in which both the X, Y motor remain stationary while maintaining direct control of each axis. This could be very beneficial for an IDEX printer to keep all motor stationary without doing calculations. Did anybody try this on their printer? Or does this mean that people are not allowed to use this even on a DIY printer that is for personal use?

Not a lawyer but I would think that it should be OK for personal use. Do you have the patent number? When will it expire?

@zapta Here is a link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US6722872B1/en and it will expire next year.

Legally, not OK for personal use.
Likelihood of a patent holder suing for personal use is approximately zero though.

"The only remaining scenario where the experimental use exception may be used is in the case of an individual’s general interest without any intention to profit. Even in this scenario, the use must only be de minimis, small-scale tinkering."
https://nysstlc.syr.edu/experimental-use-exception-to-patent-infringement/ It may also vary from country to country. I am not a lawyer.
Anyway, that's an interesting design.
