Zesty Nimble with Smart Effector mount
-
Hi!
Im working on a large-ish delta (400 diameter, 600 Zmax) and Im planning to use the smart effector with the Nimble. I'm thinking of the best way of mounting the extruder stepper and routing the drive cable in a way that would minimize side loads on the effector. Nimble owners - whats your recommended way of mounting the stepper? thanks!

thanks. are you using this mount? did you see improved performance vs the fixed mount?

I am using it on my delta, but I used it from the start so can't tell if there is a difference.

Yeah, the effector mount is kinda sorted, I had the stepper mount in mind. Since I find the drive cable quite tough, Im worried that if I mount the stepper on the Z tower and route the drive cable in a arch to the printhead, the side loads will lead to flexing/movement of the PCB as described in another thread in this forum. I was also thinking of routing the drive cable straight down from the top, but that only works well when printing close to the bed=the drive cable is pretty much straight. the higher the printhead, then the drive cable has to bend, again leading to unwanted pressure on the printhead

I have mine mounted on one of the top rails going straight down, agreed there is the possibility of flex/tilt of the effector the higher up you get, but i haven't found that to be an issue because the drive cable is flexible enough.

@CaLviNx great to hear that, do you have a pic of your setup? thanks
