A user interface for Duet
-
@oliof, Thannks for you answer for my question about selecting the Duet module. Very good and professional answer. I guess got the concept of Duet now.
Unfortunately I was not able to continue the same thread. Also, I was not able to mark your answer as "solution" I would like to do so. Therefore, I just started a new topic. Now good idea but Can't find my way to continue the original topic.
I understood that Duet consist of a web server, allowing me to use a web browser (or even a mobile phone) as user interface?
That's good. I would like to ask if there is separate user interface module available? Like a screen and rotary switch of similar?BR

@JohnJohn there are several on-device options:
a) PanelDue which is a graphical touch screen. That was the first panel for ReparapFirmware and it's still quite functional if a bit dated. Duet3D is working on a newer display but supply chain issues delay this work.
b) Support for 128x64 displays with a rotary encoder knob. These are more flexible than the PanelDue since you can configure your own display functions
c) Several pendant solutions using an Arduino Pro micro reading the pendant info and creating commands for the RRF board, using the same serial connection as the PanelDue (can be used in parallel)
d) a number of independent display solutions like RepPanel or PrintEye. I used an early version of RepPanel which was almost good (-:, the revision went closed source so I lost interest. PrintEye is being revised by its designer currently.I am personally in favor of the 12864 display solution; but I also have a CNC pendant lying on my stack of unstarted project to build into the 12864-and-pendant-combo someone posted on the forum.
Sorry for not providing links, but you can find more info about all these here in the forum, and for PanelDue, 12864 display and Pendant on docs.duet3d.com

Thanks @oliof for clear answer. I guess the display+rotary will be the way to go.
