macros restarting after pause/resume

I started a print that has a beginning macro, printer side macro, not slicer generated, that homes, trams 3 times, then z homes again.
I realized that the wrong filament was in, so as the last z home was finishing, it probed but was moving to the parked head location, I pressed pause on the DWC.
I changed the filament, hit resume, and the same beginning macro ran again.
I've seen odd behavior like this since RRF 2.x. Is there some control gcode that's supposed to be in there to handle pause mid-macro?
