Simpler way to configure the input shaping acceleromer?ter?

The input shaping configuration documentation lists 24 different orientations in which the accelerometer can be installed. Is it important to consider the polarity of the X, Y, and Z? E.g. Does it matter for FFT purposes if it's X+ or X-?
Otherwise, I think that the table can be simplified to cover only 6 cases.
Am I missing something?
