TMC 2100 standalone squealing (on one axis)
-
Offtopic since this is not an RRF machine, but maybe someone can shed light on this:
I have a printer that I got cheap expecting it to be trash. It is. Now I made it quiet by replacing the A4988 stepsticks with TMC2100s. After about 8h of printing time on the TMC2100s, one of them, runnning the X axis, has started singing like it were an A4988 ... is this the stepper running "hot, but not too hot (yet)" from running a longer time (it's actively cooled and set to vRef 1.1v so about 0.8A RMS to the stepper). Or can 2100s go bad over time? I haven't used these in about 3 years ...

I swapped X and Z drivers, and now X is quiet again. So something's off with this specific driver. Maybe it didn't like lying in a box for two years...
