Stock Ender 3 Pro 12864 LCD with a Duet 3 Mini 5+
-
Hello all,
We recently received a Duet 3 Mini 5+ to replace the control board in our Ender 3 Pro. The conversion is going great, and we're really happy with the motion control and better connectivity.
However, getting the Duet to interface with the Ender 3 Pro's stock 128x64 LCD screen (no SD card) has been a pain. The only guides I can find are for the Duet Maestro, and the pins on EXP1 and EXP2 are slightly different on the Mini 5+, so we've been trying to hunt for matching pins by referencing the pinouts and plugging parts of the ribbon cable from the LCD via Dupont connectors. This hasn't worked great, and we still haven't gotten past the point of the LCD just turning blue when the printer starts. I don't think a picture of our wiring at this point would be useful, as it's kinda a mess and we've just been taking stabs in the dark.
I've been following this guide for everything in the conversion until now, and at Step 27 it mentions the LCD screen can be used but they are using the PanelDue. However, the compatibility matrix listed elsewhere on the Duet wiki has me scratching my head wondering if this is even possible. It's strange to me that the Duet Mini 5+ would have less support for other screens than the Maestro had, but that's what this seems to indicate.
In the long run, we'll most likely go for a PanelDue but I would love to have at least some basic info displayed on the LCD like temperatures in the mean time. Has anyone here had success putting a Mini 5+ on an Ender 3 Pro with the stock screen?
Thanks in advance for the help!
