magnetic PEI sheet - will it interfere with smarteffector?
-
im planning some upgrade: removable PEI sheet, that attaches with magnets.
Would this interfere with smarteffector?
Would it affect measurement accuracy?thanks!

I have not got removable PEI sheet (but consider one as a replacement) but I use geckotek3d spring steel sheet on magnet base with smarteffector for about 3 years and have no problems with it. So IMO it should be the same with PEI sheet on magnet base. BTW I would like to know how will PEI be working as my geckotek3d cover has worn and they do not produce the plate anymore. HTH

I use a whambam system on my predator (PEI sheet with magnetic base) with my predator, along with a smart effector, and I have not seen any issues.

Does you print nylon filament? And if so is there any issue with adhesion? Thanks for advance.

@c310 I use a comparable setup, with a steel sheet (non-magnetic) and a large amount of magnet below a aluminium heat spreader. No issues encountered whatsoever. One of the post in my the mega tread in my bio should show some details/pictures if you are interested.

Does the smart effector use magnetic sensing? I had the impression that it's a strain gauge (a force sensor) implemented using PCB traces.

Never tried printing nylon so I can't answer that I'm afraid

thank you all!

a little late to the party; in theory motion in the x/y plane might let the magnets induce a voltage in the strain gauge which is a coil in that respect. motion in the z axis will have a much less effect.
so if you suspect inaccuracies as a result of the magnets, then just probe slower (which will hep with accuracy in itself regardless of magnets and theoretical coils)
