Question for you guys about Duet 2 or 3
-
i would go with the duet3. the drivers are much better.
its cheaper that duet 2 + duex5 and takes up less space.the firmware is still in development, but a lot of people on the forum are already printing happily with it.
you have a third option. maestro + Dual Stepper Expansion Module.

I was thinking about doing Duet 3 but doesn't seem to be much in docs out there for it yet. I am pretty new to Duet products and little worried about setting it up right.
-
the configurator already has support for it.

the community here is very helpfull and will help you with any questions you have when setting up the printer.

There is a 4th Option - Duet Wifi (or Ethernet) + Duex2. Which is almost the same price as Duet 3 but gives you a total of 7 drivers instead of 6 that the Duet3 main board will give you.
Duet 2 is the mainstream product. Duet 3 is aimed more at people who have a need for more than 10 drivers or need to run steppers at higher current than 2.4 Amps. Also remember that although Duet 3 can be run "stand alone" it is recommended that you purchase an RPi so you need to factor that cost in as well as the board itself.

@deckingman I have few RPi I could use. I have the Duet 2 Wifi and Duex5 laying around I didn't use for other project. I was planning on using them in this COREXY build. One thing I don't like about the Duet 2 is if run a Palette 2 which I have. I would like to use it at some point in connected mode and not seeing that happening on Duet 2. I don't mind spending the few $ for a Duet 3 but also don't want to waste money if don't think would be better and future proof more.

@rmilyard You only gave half the story - you didn't mention that you want to run a palette as well. If you already have a Duet plus Duex, use that.
-
@deckingman I have my Palette 2 on my Prusa Bear MK3S right now. Just something would like to be able to move around if wanted to. I have a Duet 2 wifi Bear MK3S style printer I also made here (might be selling) that love the prints from! The Duet 2 does great job and love how it works.

So next question. Here is the printer thinking about:
Ratrig V-Core-pro-linear-rail
Still not sure what controller but I did want the 3 Z option. So for the XY axis should I switch steppers out to 0.9 steppers and if so which would you guys suggest?
