Is anybody else feeling the squeeze?

@zapta Thanks for that - it's the sort of response I was hoping to get. Essentially what you seem to be saying is that electricity cost isn't really a factor and I can see why.
So here in the UK for domestic users, a KWhr current costs around 30p. Using today's exchange rate of 1.17 USD to the pound that's around 35 cents. So around three times the highest cost on that graphic. These prices will increase by 80% on 1st October making the cost of a kWh 52p or around 61 cents. That's five times your highest rate. Then in January there will be a further increase predicted to be at least another 50% making the cost of one kWh 78p which is around 91 cents. That's nearly eight time what you guys are paying.
The situation for businesses is much worse. There is no regulation or cap on what they can be charged and they are looking at increases of 300% or more. The typical English pub along with most small businesses, is on the verge of extinction with current electricity costs of £12,000 annually rising to over £35,000 and beyond.
I now understand what the "zero" is in government's net zero policy. It's what we'll have in our bank accounts and it's the number of small businesses still trading.

@deckingman Had to dig a bit to find those links - often times people put them in the video description, but I found them in the About of the YouTube channel. Sent some $, keep up the good work!
-
@elmoret Thanks - much appreciated. Recent videos should have links in the description but you often have to click the "show more" button. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXFL6vNa0Xk. I'll move them up to make them more prominent in future.
EDIT. I've just checked my emails and seen one from PayPal. That was an extremely generous donation - thank you so much! I feel motivated again to make another video about my 6 in 1 out multi-material hot end which is mostly working. I might even fire up the printer and make something just for the hell of it. I have in mind an anti-vibration motor mount with two plates made from say ABS and Carbon Fibre Nylon with TPU between and using a support material for the top plate - all using the same nozzle. Watch this space.....

@deckingman if that's a spherical panorama from your window, where's the house???

Ummm, that isn't a spherical panorama, nor was it taken from a window. The pictures were all taken with me standing on my patio outside the back door with my back to the house. The first picture shows a pile of uncut logs stacked on the patio with the raised deck in the background and the right hand fence between my neighbours house and mine. The second picture shows a pile of uncut logs on the deck, in front of my shed and looking towards the left hand boundary fence which is behind the shed. You can just see the steps from the patio up to the deck. The curved trellis fence in the background is the edge of the property which backs onto open fields. The third picture shows the drying racks I built with the cut and split logs stacked. These are in the far left corner of the deck, somewhat behind the shed which you can just see the edge of.

@gnydick Maybe this will explain the other pics a bit better. That's my entire back garden, part way through cutting and splitting that pile of logs.

I feel your pain when it comes to fuel and energy prices of late, however, you should count your blessings. Here in the US about 1/2 of the population has gone completely insane, and unfortunately for the rest of us, it's the half that owns most of the guns. I fear that the US is on the verge of devolving into some B-movie like post-apocalyptic dystopia over the next couple years.

@mrehorstdmd I try to keep abreast of what's happening in the rest of the world. That in itself is difficult because all mainstream media seems to have it's own political agenda so their bias pervades all their reporting (of lack of). On the other hand, social media can be full of crackpots and conspiracy theorists. So getting at the truth is difficult. In your opinion, which half of the population has gone completely insane - Republicans or Democrats? I'm guessing that republicans are more likely to carry guns than democrats so you would consider them to be the crazy ones, or am I wrong?

it's the half that owns most of the guns.
... which is not the half that commits riots, looting, political violence, kills cops, burn our cities, and suppresses our speech.
Back to 3D printers, how does the cost of electricity and the cost of filament compare for a typical print? Does any of them dominates the cost?

OMFG. Nevermind.....
