Native App for Duet3d/RRF - Wishlist
-
@Sindarius that's really great! Nice job so far. I can definitely embed a web component, but I would prefer to have a more native experience/responsiveness on the app. But I agree with you that it would be almost an app by itself (as a development effort). Maybe you would be happy to learn dartlang and do contribute?

remote access to a duet in a similar fashion that can can be done with octoprint
obviously an SBC would be required for this thoughI've added it to my list as the new number 13.

I am sooo excited about this. I'm using a cheap Android tablet as a PanelDue alternative, and a native app would be amazing.
So for me:
8,9,2,10,1,4,5,6,13,,3,12,11High on my list is responsiveness, at-a-glance information display, and macro access and execution.
Please make sure we have a way to pay you a little bit for your time!

Thanks @whopping-pochard ! What version of OS and tablet model (screen size) are you using?
-
@nomukaiki It's a 7" tablet running Android 9.
-
To keep you updated, this is what I've manage to do so far on my spare time. The app side-by-side with DWC.
-
I want to play with it now! Lol
-
Now on an Android 7'' tablet. Looks a bit big but I'll sort out the sizes and styling after getting all the features in!
Any droid users out here?! Send me PM and I'll share an APK for you to start playing around. The app is read only yet, but allows multiple printers.
-
@nomukaiki are you planning on putting something up on GitHub?
-
@Sindarius yes I am planning to do so. Not just yet because the project is still a bit of playground and I would be ashamed to show an unfinished product. But I am more than happy to invite anyone that asks to join the repository.
-
@nomukaiki Preference 1 ie Ipad2 which seems not to connect over wifi, on various browsers.
-
@nomukaiki that would be nice to be able to access the web control through a IOS device. If your using a rpi with your duet would the app be useful or it would mainly be for those who use the duet in standalone configuration?

The app will still work with or without a rpi. It connects directly to the duet firmware.
I find the app useful because it is native on the mobile and it will be more efficient on the interaction, communication control, multiple printers, notifications, possible to use AR, etc -
@jay_s_uk I've added a new log view that will allow better understanding of the network communication with your printers.
-
A sneak peek on the latest version. Now with Apple Watch included.
The mobile screen is totally configurable and you can add as many screens and tiles as you want, and mix up from multiple printers.
This is getting close for a public beta launch .
-
Wow. I like that. When will there be the beta launch ?
-
@gringo I'm happy to send pre-beta versions for people to test it. Let me know if you are interested.
-
Yes, I am interested. I have two printers with Duet2 Wifi in use.
- voron switchwire
- IDEX Printer
If I read this correctly the app runs on old Devices as well.
Also on a first Generation IPad? -
@gringo Yes, I have an old iPad where I am testing it as well. Unfortunately I will have to decide if we want to enable Apple Watch or old iOS, because they eventually will not be compatible. Right now everything is working from iOS 9.3.
-
I'd certainly be interested in testing out an Android version I've got a Fire 7 tablet with a stock Android ROM which I use for my printers.
