RailCore II corexy

Sorry, yeah. Our domain admin has been awol a bit now. We're migrating content from the wiki over to github ( https://railcore.github.io/ ). Not sure what we'll do with the forum long term yet, it was pretty under utilized.
In the meantime, #RailCore on IRC, or our discord channel at https://discord.gg/6kPKDRZ are good ways to communicate.

Thanks for the update and alternatives. Not a fan of Discord, either, but it's better than FB.
Are you still using SuperLube brand oil with PTFE for your linear rail carriages? -
My personal go to is the superlube 21030 grease currently.
-
Sorry to be grumpy on the Discord comment - I realize it takes a lot of personal time to organize and maintain all these sites. My main concern with Discord, and one of the concerns with FB, is that information gets lost. Discord in particular is just a rolling chat. Forums allow much better organization of issues, and the invaluable search function.
-
I agree, but the forum just never gained any traction. The number of posts there was dwarfed by the use of both Facebook and now discord.
We still plan to get it back running once our admin resurfaces.

Cool. Hope to meet you at MRRF!

I'll definitely be there!

@kraegar said in RailCore II corexy:
The halo files will be released once they've been tested on a 300zl, and confirmed to work. Then I'll clean up a lot of cruft from the design, and publish it. Probably within a week or so of testing, depending on my work schedule.
Any news about this?
Would be interesting to cnc this on a shopbot I got access to-j

@kraegar I saw the halo on 713maker -- would you recommend it for a new Railcore ZLT build? Is it possible to mount a lid over top?
-
@niksteel I'm building a Railcore myself and while I don't intent to use the halo, I believe it can be enclosed. Check this link out: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3569321

@rbjam83 Thanks! looks like there's some variation in terms of where the belts fit, but the overall approach makes sense. It looks like you could use angle irons for most of it and then print some corner pieces to wrap around the motors and pulleys. Thanks and good luck with your project!

Could you use styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) instead of HDPE for the side panels?
HDPE: https://plastics.ulprospector.com/generics/27/c/t/polyethylene-pe-properties-processing/sp/5
SAN:
https://plastics.ulprospector.com/generics/47/c/t/styrene-acrylonitrile-san-properties-processing]SAN has a high Flexural Strength, and 1200X800X4 mm sheet is ~35€ and is transparent.
What are the important mechanical parameters of the plastic panels of the railCore?
