How can I find the right firmware?
-
The releases and all the files for them are here: https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases
The beta and release candidates will usually only include the files that have changed, so to get the other files that appear to be missing you'd have to go back to the last stable release.
The update process is actually a lot simpler now than it used to be. You can upload the entire zip file and the DWC will unzip it and update everything as needed.
So in your case, I would upload this zip file for 2.02 stable release which includes wifi server 1.23 and web control 1.22.6. Then if you want to update to the release candidates for 2.03 you just need to upload the combined firmware bin.

First of all thanks @Phaedrux
Just for my understanding and for later updates: I always have to go back to the stable release candidate and then can only install the beta or RC versions?
For the current case:
1st Step: I install via WebGui the version you have linked here:
https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/2.02/Duet2Firmware-2.02b.zip2nd Step: I install Duet2CombinedFirmware.bin (currently the version: 2.03RC5)
https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/2.03RC5/Duet2CombinedFirmware.bin3rd Step: I install DuetWebControl-Duet2.zip (current version: 2.0RC7)
https://github.com/chrishamm/DuetWebControl/releases/tag/2.0.0-RC7Is it correct that way?
-
That would work yes, if you'd like to test the release candidates.
-
Many thanks for the enlightenment and the small instructions ... Apart from the speed: D
-
I forgot to ask ... When the next Beta update comes out ... I must back to the stable Release and then to the new Beta Release?
Or this way only by larger updates?
-
@crazycreator Prior releases are not needed to update the firmware itself. You need to read the whatsnew files to see if any changes have been done since the last firmware you installed.
-
The only reason I suggested going back to 2.02 first was to get all your other files up to date. You could also have gotten them individually. It was just to put you on solid footing as it were.

When upgrading to a later beta or RC of the firmware series you are already on (in this case, the 2.03 series), you can just upgrade the Duet2CombinedFirmware.bin or DuetMaestroFirmware.bin file unless the release notes specify otherwise.

Thank you all for the explanation.
The support is really great here, even if such a DAU (This is a German abbreviation for "The stupid to be accepted user") as I'm, ask his questions ... Thanks
-
I'm back again ...
I did everything as described above. So the 3 recommended steps.
Everything runs wonderfully.
Well, a few days ago this release was released:
https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/tag/2.03I just download now:
https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/2.03/Duet2CombinedFirmware.binand upload it via the web interface? That's all?
Sorry I ask again explicitly here, but I do not want to bring back the board again by reset / restore. That had happened to me in the beginning, before I opened this thread here.
Thank you all, for the help.

@crazycreator you can either upload the whole zip file that contains everything, or the individual firmware bin files as needed.
Best bet is to upload the zip file that way you won't miss updating the wifi firmware or the DWC files that may be needed for that main firmware version. The zip file keeps it simple and contained.
-
OK my friend.
Then I will just upload the "Duet 2 Combined Firmware.bin" and hope that everything works out again ... Just like last time./EDIT
Well that was easy again. Everything runs.P.S.
I have no idea what I did wrong during the initial installation. -
@crazycreator glad it's working out.

Me too

Hi all
Sorry maybe stupid question, but Duet2 wifi working like a charm with my 3d printer and forgot whole updates
Now thinking how hard is update my this version to new one. Do i need to do different changes to config files or something or is everything going automatically?
My version now:
How i updates everything on right order, thats way not broke anything?
edit: I have PanelDue 7" too connected my printer. Thats need updated too?
-
@lassivv You can simply upload this zip file to the settings page and the Duet will do the rest.
https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/2.03/Duet2Firmware-2.03.zip
For the PanelDue, you can find the update procedure here: https://miscsolutions.wordpress.com/paneldue/
-
@lassivv, prior to upgrading your firmware, read the upgrade notes and known issues sections for firmware 2.03, and also for the 2.02 version that you are skipping, at https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/blob/dev/WHATS_NEW.md. From that you should be able to tell whether you need any changes to config files.

also for
Big thanks both fast reply. Thats zip update goes very easily and works like a charm. Big thanks to efford all programmers to get that update procedure that easy. Not know is there any big updates recarding normal cartesian 3d printer, but maybe better have newer firmware that older. (older 2.01 work like a charm too)
Paneldue update goes easily too, Paneldue update not possible same like other firmware updates with that one zip package on web interface?

I share OP's confusion when it comes to upgrades, what files are part of the release and what combinations are suppose to work.
It will be useful to list the names and versions of files that are supposed to work together such that we can verify that we have a consistent set of versions or fix if not.
